Minor cosmetic imperfections are sometimes all it takes to ruin your smile. Whether you chipped or cracked a tooth in a sports injury, an veneersaccident or fall, or even through the simple action of biting and chewing your food, you can get your smile back. Dr. Irina Tyurina in Enfield, CT, recommends dental veneers for cosmetic imperfections and issues like cracks, chips, mild to moderate gaps and spacing, and deep stains and discolorations that can't be treated with professional teeth whitening gels.

Makeover Your Smile with Veneers in Enfield, CT

Veneers are one of the most versatile and effective cosmetic dental treatments available. Because they can change the shape, size or color of a damaged tooth, they are the ideal solution for common cosmetic dental problems that can tarnish the aesthetics and function of your teeth. Not only are they minimally invasive, but dental veneers also have an incredibly long shelf, with the average treatment lasting as long as a decade, often longer.

Made of a thin, translucent layer of porcelain or composite resin (a combination of materials like glass and plastic), veneers are custom-made to match the shade and texture of your natural teeth. The veneer is then bonded to the surface of the tooth. They are also commonly used to seal and strengthen a tooth after treatment with root canal therapy.

Are Veneers Right for You?

If you are unhappy with how your teeth look due to stains, small to moderate gaps and spacing issues (larger gaps and alignment problems may require orthodontic treatment), chips and cracks, or uneven teeth, veneers may be a good option for you.

How dental services from your Enfield dentist can improve your smiledental services

If you want to change your smile, the right dental procedure can work wonders. Improving your smile can change your life, restoring your self-confidence and enhancing your self-esteem. Dr. Irina Tyurina at Enfield Dental Center in Enfield, CT wants to share the facts about how dental procedures can help you.

Modern denture technology can provide a denture that fits well and looks great. A new denture can provide you with:

  • Relief from the pain of decayed or damaged teeth
  • A cosmetically beautiful smile you will be proud to show off
  • Full chewing function so you can enjoy the foods you love

You can choose from:

  • Conventional dentures which are placed after your tissue has healed
  • Immediate dentures which are placed right after dental extractions
  • Partial dentures which replace just a few teeth
  • Overdentures which are placed over tooth roots or implants for added support

If you want to fix major cosmetic issues with your teeth like cracks, chips or defects, you should consider veneers. Veneers are thin laminates of plastic or porcelain which are cemented onto the front surfaces of your teeth. Veneers can give you a harmonious, dazzling smile.

If you have an uneven smile due to crooked teeth or a badly aligned bite, you should consider Invisalign, the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth. Treatment is comfortable, discreet and quick, with treatment time averaging between nine and fifteen months. Invisalign can correct all of the same problems as conventional braces, including:

  • Open bite and crossbite
  • Overbite and underbite

These are just a few of the treatments available at Enfield Dental Center. For a complete listing of services, please visit the services page on the website at http://www.enfielddentalcenter.com/services.html.

A Healthy Diet for Healthy Teeth

What you eat is an important component to maintaining a healthy smile.

Did you know that what you eat could be the difference between a healthy, beautiful smile and issues such as decay and gum disease? The foods and drinks you consume have a serious impact on your teeth and gums, so if you want maintain the very best oral health then here are the foods that you should eat more often and foods that you should nix from your diet.

What You Drink Matters

While it might be more fun to drink sodas, sports drinks, fruit juices and other beverages they can wreak havoc on a healthy smile. You wouldn’t believe all the sugar that’s in a lot of these drinks. Sugar is one of the leading causes of decay, so you’ll want to avoid sugar as much as possible if you want to prevent cavities. We know it isn’t as fun a choice but fluoridated water is actually the very best thing you could drink to maintain a healthy smile.

The fluoride found in most tap water can help to restrengthen enamel and protect it from acid attacks that can occur due to eating too much sugar.

What a Smile-Friendly Diet Looks Like

If you want to stave off decay and gum disease then you’ll certainly want to avoid processed foods and sugar. We know that people lead busy lives and sometimes the only food one can get comes from a fast food window, but it’s important to avoid these foods as much as possible. While it’s not realistic to assume that you will stay away from sugar and processed foods altogether, limiting it whenever possible will go a long way to protecting your teeth and gums.

What can you eat instead? There are so many wonderful food choices out there that can benefit your smile. It’s important that you get the vitamins and nutrients you need to maintain healthy teeth, gums and bone. You will want to add low-fat dairy products to your daily diet. Milk, yogurt and cheese are great for your smile because they contain calcium and phosphorus, which promote strong, healthy bones. And if you aren’t much of a milk drinker, that’s okay. You can still find calcium in other delicious foods like edamame, kale, broccoli and figs, just to name a few.

Your diet should also contain a hearty helping of fruits and fibrous vegetables. Don’t skimp on these foods. Crunchy, crisp carrots and apples make perfect snacks and can even help to keep teeth clean in between brushings. Plus, crunching down on these foods also promote the production of saliva, which can help wash away acid from tooth enamel, as well as food particles and plaque.

Other foods to enjoy include lean meats and foods like sweet potatoes or red peppers, which are high in vitamin C. Plus, the more of these healthy foods that you incorporate into your diet the better you’ll feel and the more satiated you’ll feel. Perhaps you won’t even miss those sugary treats.
